Filing, scheduling and system crashes
Tonight I tried to book our flights to my sister's wedding. I got my husband's ticket booked but when I called Airmiles their system was down and they didn't expect it to be up and running again before their call center closed. I will have to get up earlier tomorrow morning and hope that the flight is still available. If not, it just means that I won't be able to fly the same airline as my husband, although we'll travel the same day. I'm sure it will all work out.
Earlier today I had to wade through piles of paperwork to find the file that had my husband's Airmiles number in it. I really have to make the paper piles a priority. I can rarely find the piece of paper that I need when I need it and I think I hold onto things I really have no need of. Ick! The thought of all that filing isn't all that pleasant but knowing where everything is would give me great peace of mind.
So far my scheduling is working out not too badly but I must confess that I have not been keeping to the timetable although the chores are getting done. I think I might have to do some tweaking. I will give it another week and see how things are shaping up then.

Curtains for Hendrik
Oh another exciting thing that I forgot to mention - Mom, Hilary and I worked on curtains for Hendrik's room yesterday. They are almost done, they just need the bottoms hemmed and we need to make a valence as well. They look great so far and I can't wait until they are done. I'll publish pictures when we've completed the project.
We bought the fabric for this project back in March about 10 days after he was born and it has been on our to do list ever since but this summer has been an unexpectedly busy one despite all of us being in town.

Making progress...I think...
Well I think I am finally starting to get somewhere with my home organization be it ever so slowly. To the untrained eye you would never know it but I know it! More parts of my house feel like they are under control now and I am able to relax a bit more knowing that it isn't going to take me as long to pick up and clean up anymore. Also, having designated certain chores to certain days allows me not to feel under pressure to clean the ENTIRE house in one day. It's not impossible to do but close and I'm always super stressed and super tired if I do that. So HOORAY! I'm on way to a more organized life. :)

My Home Keeping Schedule
Daily Schedule - Monday through Saturday

7:30 a.m. - Up, breakfast, load of laundry into washing machine

8:00 a.m. - Dishes, 1st load of laundry into dryer, 2nd into washing machine

8:30 a.m. - Devotions & Prayer

9:00 a.m. - Fold & put away 1st load of laundry, put 2nd load into dryer

9:30 a.m. - Tidy bedrooms, check email

10:00 a.m. - Fold & put away 2nd load of laundry, supper preparations

10:30 a.m. - MONDAY - Clean aquarium, wipe down chalkboard
- TUESDAY - Bathroom, water plants indoors
- WEDNESDAY - Bedrooms
- THURSDAY - Clean bunny cages, vacuum
- FRIDAY - Dust, sweep & wash floors
- SATURDAY - Tidy entrance, clean bathroom

11:30 a.m. - Shower, prepare lunch

12:00 p.m. - Lunchtime

12:30 p.m. - Dishes, tidying up

1:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. - Unscheduled

4:30 p.m. - DH home from work

5:00 p.m. - Supper

5:30 p.m. - Dishes

6:00 p.m. - 10 p.m. - Unscheduled

10:00 p.m. - Water plants outside, clean kitchen sinks

10:30 p.m. - Get baby ready for bed, tidy living room

11:00 p.m. - Nurse baby, bedtime

As you can see this schedule allows a lot of unscheduled time which allows for fun times and extra chore times as needed.

Home keeping schedule
Today I spent a little bit of time drawing up a home keeping schedule. It starts at 7:30 a.m. when my DH gets up for work and ends at 11 p.m., bedtime. I am encouraged by this new schedule as I should be able to have all my housework done by 11 a.m., including supper preparations. I have left the afternoon and evening mostly unscheduled with the exception of supper and our bedtime routine. Because the baby and I are out and about a fair bit and due to teething, etc I felt being flexible was the best option to allow for minimal stress! :) It also leaves me time to pencil in sewing or extra projects that I might wish to tackle. Sundays are chore free with the exception of dishes and most Saturdays will likely be spent at our property building our log house. I will post my schedule later on today.
