Day 3 - Master Bedroom continued...
Today I hope to get our bedroom put back together. I need to reorganize the wardrobe and closet and get all the clean laundry put away that I've been working on all weekend. So I will get both our bedroom and our living room back in one day. LOL! I can't wait to have a nice, tidy looking bedroom again.

Partial success - A Report on Day 2
Well, yesterday I made quite a dent in our bedroom. I hauled everything off the floor in the closet and sorted all the laundry. I went through a good portion of my clothes and got rid of one garbage bag full so far. I am trying to eliminate everything from the room that is not clothing or sleep related. I want to be able to see all of the floor at all times!
Hendrik's room looks good. I've rearranged things a little to make it more likely for dirty clothes to make it to the basket and toys to be put away.
I haven't tackled much more paperwork yet but I plan on doing a lot more this week. I want to be able to lay my hands on any given piece of paper within seconds instead of within several minutes or hours! It's coming along. I am encouraged by progress and current state of motivation. I hope it continues. :)
We had a lazy Sunday with the exception of Dwayne who had to be up at 5:30 to go on a course for work. Yuck. He hasn't even been gone 24 hours and I miss him so much already. Hendrik and I went to Mom and Dad's for lunch and Pam and Uncle George were there. UG is here until Friday as he is doing the town audit. Later on we went to Marie and Nadine's for coffee and to drop off their new TV which wouldn't fit in their car. Dad brought it out in the wagon. We ended up staying for dinner - turkey even! They hadn't had turkey for Christmas due to being in Hawaii. We were more than happy to help them out with it that's for certain! When I got home Dwayne called and he sounded very tired. He went off the road this morning but luckily he wasn't hurt and neither was the vehicle, he just had to wait half and hour for a truck to come along and pull him out. I'm glad he's safe!

Day 2 - Dining Room and Our Bedroom
Today promised to be a big day!
If you could see the mountain of papers on my table right now...
If you could see the mountains of clothing on our bedroom floor right now...
It has become very apparent to me that I have excesses of both paper and clothing as well as miscellaneous other stuff and it's time to get things in order. I will post later on in the day and update on where the rooms are at. :)

January 27 - The New Day 1
Well today I actually accomplished a few things. I did at least 6 loads of laundry - all of which I have been folding and putting away as I go. Sounds simple and common-sensical but I am known for not doing this and going with the clean pile and dirty pile system. ;)
I also tidied up our son's room this evening so he can actually play in there again! I still have some rearranging to do and some clothing to move to the "too small" bin in this closet but it is coming along nicely.
I reorganized all the cupboards and drawers in the bathroom tonight and even though they are mostly "out of sight, out of mind" it is nice to know that they are orderly. I bought some little bins and baskets today to put in the drawers to keep things from becoming one big jumble. I hope it works! :)
I was planing on tackling the mountain of paperwork that has accumulated on the dining room table but it is getting too late and it would take more brain power than I presently have. Tomorrow...!!!

Another relaxing day
I've given up on trying to be super productive in the next few days. Dwayne is home and we are enjoying being able to relax together with Hendrik. We slept in, watched the end of a movie, finished up our FA license applications, Dwayne cured some meat for jerky, I had bloodwork done, and then we went for a drive to see if we could find the elusive moose we followed on Tuesday afternoon. We didn't have any luck with the moose but we did have a nice drive. The hoar frost is really beautiful right now. This evening we went over to my mom and dad's for a visit. Hendrik has been fairly antsy the past week or so and I think I can see a little white patch beside both of his two little bottom teeth. I hope his teeth pop through soon for his comfort's sake and our sanity's! :)

So much for Day 1...
Well, I didn't get any organizing done today. In fact I didn't do hardly anything today. My husband has Wednesday through Friday off this week and it is just as well that he asked for that time off last week as on Monday we lost a baby to miscarriage. It's been a tough few days and neither of us has felt like doing too much. We are thankful to have one healthy, happy, delightful son but we still mourn the loss of the two babies I've miscarried.
I had planned to organize the make shift sewing area in our living room so it is at least usable again. Tomorrow I guess.

21 Days to a Clutter-Free Home
I read a post today at Keeping the Home about decluttering in 21 days. It was inspired by this article at Making It Home Magazine . I'm always up for decluttering as it is the one major frustration in my life. I try not to let it get to me but I know that it is a weakness for me and I really want to change. I want to simplify and organize so that it is easier to keep my home tidy and pleasant and so that I can easily lay my hands on anything I need instead of having to rummage through boxes or piles of clothing.
I sometimes find it hard to get started because as much as I dislike the clutter in my home I am also a bit of a perfectionist so I would rather have something done well and completely than do it half way. Kind of counterproductive I know. I need to work on that. Slow and steady wins the race.
I figure if a job's worth doing it's worth doing properly.

I found this quiz at the "More Hours in My Day" website.
Take this simple test to help you determine your level of organization and how much work you have ahead of you:

At this moment do you know where your car keys are? - Yes
Could you find your most recent tax returns in five minutes or less? - Yes
Do you know where your children’s birth certificates and shot records are? - Yes
Could you find a receipt for office supplies purchased two months ago? - No
Is the sink free of dirty dishes? - No
Are there three or more piles of paper anywhere in your home? -Yes
Could you at a quick glance give me a subtotal of credit card receipts for the previous month? - Yes
Do you have a current list of service names and phone numbers and could you retrieve it in less than three minutes? - No
Have your bills for the month all been paid on time? - Yes
Do you open and sort your mail the day it arrives? - No

Eight or more “yes” answers – You are very organized.
Six to eight “yes” answers – You could use a tune-up.
Four to six “yes” answers – It’s jungle in there.
Less than four “yes” answers – You need a complete overhaul.

Although I scored "6" I would say I lean toward the "It's a jungle in there" description. Ack!

Wednesday, January 25th will be considered "Day 1". My husband will be going away for a course soon so hopefully by the time he returns he will see a definite improvement in our home.
Now to decide where to start...
